How do I get started with Quantra Trading?

Subscribe to the R1500/month plan, complete the onboarding form, and follow our step-by-step guide to install the EA on your MetaTrader account. The entire setup process typically takes less than 24 hours.

Which brokers are compatible with the Quantra EA?

Accepted Answer

The EA is compatible with any MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5 broker. For optimal performance, we recommend brokers with tight spreads (under 1.5 pips on majors), fast execution, and no restrictions on automated trading. We can recommend specific brokers during onboarding.

What is the minimum recommended account size?

We recommend a minimum account balance of R50,000 (or equivalent in USD/EUR) to allow the EA to manage risk appropriately across all three asset classes. Smaller accounts can run the EA but may experience higher relative drawdown during volatile periods.

Question 4

Do I need any trading experience to use the EA?

Accepted Answer

No prior trading experience is required. The EA handles all trade decisions, execution, and management automatically. You will need to be able to install MetaTrader and follow our setup guide — our support team is available to assist throughout the process.

What returns can I expect?

Past performance is not indicative of future results. Returns vary based on market conditions, account size, and broker execution quality. We do not publish guaranteed return figures. Performance data from live accounts is available to review during the onboarding process.

Question 6

How does the EA perform during volatile markets?

Accepted Answer

The EA includes session-aware logic and news-event filters that automatically suspend trading during high-impact economic releases. During periods of extreme volatility (e.g. major geopolitical events), the EA may reduce position sizes or pause trading entirely to protect capital.

What is the typical drawdown?

The EA is designed to keep maximum drawdown below 15% of account equity under normal market conditions. Dynamic position sizing and hard stop-losses are applied to every trade. Drawdown limits are configurable during setup based on your risk tolerance.

How many trades does the EA place per day?

Accepted Answer

Trade frequency varies by market conditions and asset class. On average, the EA places between 5 and 20 trades per day across all three asset classes combined. During low-volatility periods, trade frequency naturally decreases.

How does the EA manage risk on each trade?

Accepted Answer

Every trade has a pre-calculated stop-loss and take-profit level set at the time of entry. Position sizes are determined by a fixed percentage of account equity (typically 1–2% risk per trade), adjusted dynamically based on current market volatility using ATR-based calculations.

Can I lose more than my account balance?

Accepted Answer

No. The EA uses hard stop-losses on every trade and does not use strategies that could result in losses exceeding your account balance. However, trading in leveraged instruments always carries the risk of significant losses, and you should only trade with capital you can afford to lose.

What happens during a losing streak?

The EA does not use martingale or grid strategies that increase position sizes after losses. Each trade is sized independently based on current account equity. During a losing streak, position sizes automatically decrease as equity decreases, limiting the compounding effect of consecutive losses.

Question 12

Is my capital held by Quantra Trading?

Accepted Answer

No. Your capital remains in your own brokerage account at all times. Quantra Trading only has access to trade on your account via the EA — we cannot withdraw funds, transfer capital, or access your account outside of trade execution.

Question 13

When is the R1500 maintenance fee charged?

Accepted Answer

The maintenance fee is billed on the 1st of each calendar month. Your subscription remains active as long as the fee is current. A grace period of 5 business days applies before the EA is suspended for non-payment.

Question 14

How is the profit share calculated and when is it charged?

Accepted Answer

Net profit is calculated at the end of each bi-monthly period (January/February, March/April, etc.). Net profit equals total closed trade profits minus total closed trade losses and any swap/commission costs. 10% of net profit is invoiced within 3 business days of the period end, payable within 7 days.

What if there is a net loss in a bi-monthly period?

If the bi-monthly period results in a net loss or break-even, no profit share is charged. You only pay the flat R1500 monthly maintenance fee. There is no high-water mark mechanism — each bi-monthly period is calculated independently.

Question 16

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel at any time by providing 30 days written notice via email to support@quantratrading.co.za. Your EA will continue running until the end of the notice period. No further maintenance fees will be charged after the notice period expires, and any outstanding profit share for the final period will be calculated and invoiced at cancellation.
