Frequently asked questions
API key management
How API keys work
Every Quantra Trading member account is permanently linked to a unique EA API key. This key authenticates your Expert Advisor to the platform and is tied to your email address and MT5 account number — you never need to memorise or manually enter it.
For members
Key assigned at onboarding
Your account manager generates and links your API key to your email address and MT5 account number before you receive the EA.
Automatic injection after login
When you log into your member portal, your API key is automatically retrieved and injected into all EA and MT5 data requests — no copy-paste required.
View your key in the portal
Navigate to the Overview tab in your portal to see your key status and linked account number. Go to the EA Setup tab to copy the key for your EA configuration.
Key status alerts
If your key is revoked or expired, the portal will display a clear alert. Contact your account manager to have a new key issued.
For administrators
Assign a key
In the Admin dashboard → Linked keys tab, click "Assign key". Enter the member's email address and their MT5 account number. Leave the key field blank to auto-generate a cryptographically secure key, or paste an existing key to link it.
One active key per account
Each member can have only one active key at a time. Assigning a new key automatically revokes the previous one. The old key is immediately invalidated — the EA will stop authenticating until reconfigured with the new key.
Edit account number or expiry
Click the edit icon on any active key to update the linked MT5 account number or set an expiry date. Changes take effect immediately on the next portal login.
Revoke a key
Click the revoke icon and optionally enter a reason. The key is immediately invalidated. The member's portal will show a "Key revoked" alert. Issue a new key via the Assign flow.
Security
Keys are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM. Only the masked version is shown in the list view. Use the reveal button (eye icon) to display the full key for distribution — this action is logged in the audit trail.
